Looking for updated beta for St.George (camping and eats)
|
|
I haven't been to St. George since last year and just wanted to know if any other camping spots got shut down since then. When we visited last year you could no longer camp around Moe's or the Gap. Any beta on good spots to van camp would be appreciated. Also, anyone willing to recommend any good local eats ? Thanks. |

Camp on the BLM land to the west of moes. Google "bear claw poppy trailhead" for the entrance. Camping at moes and green valley are done except that people still do it. Not a great idea for relations with the town. |

There is a snowbirds camp east of I 15 at the Black Rock exit just over the AZ border.(If you are comforted by traffic noise and the humming of generators.) There are better places, but a public forum is a poor choice to vaunt them. |

Ron is going to know them eats better than anyone. |

I'd vote for Red Fort Cuisine of india as one of the best newer restaurants in the area. Finally another option for Indian food! |

El coyote charro, the one near Costco is rumored to be the best. Also one in mesquite. |

I 2nd Red Fort. Same owners as the popular Bombay House in SLC (Punjabi food, not southern Indian). |

700 Degrees has good pizza and a really good beer selection (for Utah at least). |

Ron O wrote: Whats the pizza place in New Haven that serves pizza with freshly shucked clams? The justifiably famous white clam pizza at Pepe's (although I think Sally's has one as well). No, I will not enter the multi-decade debate of best pizza, Sally's vs Pepe's, which takes on religious fervor among Yaleies and New Havenites. |

I have body armor that will stop a .30-06 so I'll wade in as a former Connecticut resident. |

Angelica's on "the boulevard" for tacos+, highly recommended. Irmita's Casita on 700S is pretty decent for full plates (bring cash). |

Bad news people. There was a sherif driving around the campsites at Bear Claw Navajo Poppy this morning telling people that the area is going to be closed to dispersed camping in the near future. Apparently the red cliff desert reserve is taking over management of the area and is making the change so that they can preserve wildlife in the area. The sherif said that we were good for now but they will be putting up "no camping" signs for the area in the near future and once that happens the party is over :( |

Paragon Adventures has a great resource page. And if you aren't already following Southern Utah Climbers Alliance (SUCA) on Facebook, you may find more current updates there. Be sure to keep scrolling below for an update from user Mike S on access issues with Santa Clara / Cove Wash. +1 for Irmita's Casita! |

Confirmed yesterday that the in n out is still turning out fire double doubles |

In regards to that map, the Santa Clara/Cove Wash area has some access issues. They are blasting a new road up there and it is not open during the week. All the camping is down low near the pavement. Please be super respectful to the neighbors. No large fires or loud music please. Its only a matter of time before "no camping" signs show up there. Construction is supposed to last until May. |
