I am doing some research for a novel, and was wondering if someone could help with a couple of sections that involve mountaineering and rock climbing. I'm not a climber myself, so my descriptions and terminology are not going to be very accurate. I'd like to improve the scenes to the point where someone who does know what I'm talking about can look at it and not laugh.
Your best bet would be to look up John Long aka Largo who has written novels and technical climbing books. Otherwise post up the chapters as you will get lots of replies. Most of which will not be worth a dime novel.
Thank you, I was lucky to receive several helpful private messages and am now chatting with a few very nice forum members. The support is greatly appreciated!
This is what's fun about being a writer: when you take the time to do the research, you get to learn all sorts of fascinating things and often meet some very interesting people.
Where do you live? You should come climbing with one of us so you can convey the experience, not just the technicalities! If ya come to alaska I will take you out on an adventure.
