Uh... that's kind of a trick question.  In my experience (which is not terribly limited, which is to say extensive) he's a fairly nice guy.
I didn't agree with his decision to add the bolts he did (on Archangel, by China Doll), but that does not qualify as cause for claiming he's a misogynist.

Can you explain the reason for that particular impression since it's been leveled here?

I don't know him well, but I've always found Chris friendly and likable.

Of course, I'm not married to him

I doubt his wife hates him either...

Have no idea what adding bolts would have to do with mysogony.  He just came across as really douchey and condescending to me in the film.

Thanks for clarifying.  I just watched the film.  There are a few comments he makes that I would have not been comfortable making on film, but more for knowing how people might react than for thinking that they are inherently bad things to think or say.  (shrugs)  I don't profess to know exactly how tongue in cheek they were intended to be.  I'll ask him next time we talk, but that's not going to end up posted here.

Yeah, it might have just been bad moments.  I don’t profess to have an accurate or honest opinion of a guy I’ve never met, there were just a few scenes in it that left a bad taste in my mouth despite it being an otherwise incredible film.  It’s just that almost all of his descriptions of Heather and why he liked her boiled down to: 1) She’s hot and 2) she climbs hard, but not quite as hard as he.

#1 I heard.  I appreciate it that my wife is also hot, and that is part of what got me to notice her in the first place, so if I'm honest, yeah, I have human biology and there is the attraction thing.  She says the same about me, so I guess we deserve eachother.
#2 I have a different understanding of.  I didn't hear him say he wouldn't like it even more if she could hang the draws on the 14b's for him, so I don't assume otherwise.  With my climbing partners (2/3 are females) they climbed hard, but not as hard as me, and I liked that.  And when I got injured (still recovering) they presently climb harder than me and I like that too. (even moreso at the moment, actually)  Hopefully that does not make me a douche.

I was driving along 4th in Boulder and saw a woman struggling with a dog on the side of the road, so I slowed down. Lucky I did, because the dog suddenly lunged for the road and I would've hit him if I hadn't - the woman was still struggling as I drove by and I noticed it was Lynn Hill. So, I didn't actually meet her, but almost killed her dog.

C'mon! You can't dangle a name drop like that and not deliver the drama.

Honestly, I consider Chris a friend and I don't expect any drama.  I imagine if he wanted to say something, he would do so himself.

If you were his friend you wouldn't speculate on his actions or words on a public forum. (J/K kinda :)

His words were probably just taken out of context

And @Ted for such a professed anti-troll you sure do use inflammatory words:

Is Chris Weidner as much of a mysoginistic asshole as he comes across on China Doll?

Well, I’m sorry to insult your friend.  I could be totally off-base and don’t know him personally, so extrapolating how a person would be in person off of an edited video is probably not the smartest idea.  Sorry I brought it up.

Someone mentioned in the Youtube comments that it was a great video and that they hope she is seeing a therapist as that would be a great adventure for her; I'm paraphrasing. I in part agreed with that sentiment. She seemed very adept at using self-castigation as a motivator and I worried that such a stategy may one day come back to collect what it's owed. Not going to be fun, that day.

Note: I hope that didn't come off as judgmental, it's not rather, more of a concern and something I saw after watching the movie. Of course, a 15 minute movie can't tell us a lot about a person but, it would appear others have made similar 15 minute findings from it in regards to her and the BF so, I'm not the only one to come away from said movie with thoughts on the mind.

How about the climbing movie is about climbing instead of how we feel about climbing:

I didn't take it personally and you don't owe me an apology.  I can see what you are saying in a way, but I sure would have worded that differently.
I also appreciate the retrospection you gave it.  Anyway, I'm not sure how he'll take it, or how Heather for that matter, will read the other comments here.
Just bear in mind that whatever you write about people around here, 9 times/10, they or someone close to them will be reading it.

And if you wanted to chat with him, he's not difficult to find:
Chris Weidner

You'd probably get along OK.  He's a good guy.

Now I am back in Kansas for family so my brush with "famous" climbers will probably end.

The flat part or the (slightly) hilly part? Either way, my condolences.

I met Peter Croft a couple years back at Red Rock Rendezvous, he was signing posters for The North Face booth. He was so humble and soft spoken, he felt guilty autographing the posters.  "Do you want me to sign this?" like he was ruining it....  ummmm  everyone was in line to have him sign it, silly.

I mentioned how good his episode of the Enormocast was and he was mind blown anyone listened to it.

Lovely gentleman.

Also met Hans Florine in line behind me for the pancake breakfast, also a true gentleman.

Met Alex Honnold at a Reel Rock Premiere in Downtown L.A. several years ago, he definitely seemed incredibly uncomfortable having to interact with fans in the urban atmosphere.

Also met Dean Potter at that same Reel Rock (was the Valley Uprising year)  He was signing posters of this photo of him doing a crazy high wire slack lining.  I didn't get one of the posters because I don't care about slacklining.  I'll always regret that, especially because next year's Reel Rock began with a sort tribute to his amazing but too short life.  Dang.

Many professional climbers do public meet at greats at events, book releases, movie premieres, festivals, etc, etc...

They are paid to interact with their fans at that moment in time and space you are not intruding on their life.

It's not asking Tom Cruise for a selfie while he's on the phone and holding his daughter.

I mean, it's great because the name-droppers can't not drop.  It's part of your DNA.  Even though this is an obvious troll thread, and it's clear that just listing famous people you know or met SAYS something about you as a person and the substance of your character (or lack thereof,) the lists just keep coming and coming.

Honnold gave my dog head scratches at Ten Sleep.

Here he is basking in the glow of anticipated fame.

God I wish it was that simple.  I've run into plenty of "famous" people, but there isn't a fiber in me that requires me to boost myself in some kind of odd way by mentioning it.  If you want an extreme version of this sad trend, check out our buddy Medusa.  Holy crap that guy is the king of selfies with B and C listers.

Be secure in yourself, know that you matter and are whole on your own without expensive possessions, notable acquaintances or friends, etc.

This often develops naturally in a person as they mature and get older, but jeez...some of you goofballs are old enough to be my dad.

2/10 for sure.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
