Burch. Wait. Does masturbating to his sleeping profile count as sex?

Is that you James?!?  You a**hole!!!!

I saw Largo in Pasadena at a climbing talk, but I didn’t take a selfie for my insta so I’m basically human fail-trash.

Define "famous". What is the minimum level of celebrity needed to make the list?

Chatted with Jstar about the Fins, one time. His dog kissed me, does that count?

Best, OLH

Famous is in the eye of the beholder.

Wait, I'm confused...I thought your name is James, aren't you NAWMEAN on ST?

So, you did or didn't have sex with John?

I’ve argued with some of them online, as I never got the memo that I’m not worthy to do so based on my limited (see:zero) times up an El Cap route.  Very funny, these rules of climbing.  Pretty much the definition of “Arbitrary”

I know this is troll but I met Jason Kehl in the wild. He was our tour guide in Hueco for a day. Dude is ba-dass and super strong. Favorite part was watching him huck a huge move to a mono for the send. Also want to say that Jason Kehl climbing movies are works of art.

Jason Kehl climbing movie - story, sick music, draws you in, emotional
Daniel woods/paul robison climbing movie - shitty dubstep, crap quality, but strong climbing!!

Also Alex Puccio climbs in my area and gyms, sends ery-thing all day. Saw her at a bar and chatted...super casual and great person!!

So for the trollish question, um, lots. Something to do with climbing in the Gunks '72-'2000, two dozen trips to Yosemite, living in the Meadows for a couple of months, et al. The one name I'll drop is Tommy Caldwell, at Manure Pile Buttress. He was climbing After Six with his dad. He was around 7 yrs old at the time.

I used to climb with a guy who deemed himself to be famous and worthy of sponsorships. Does that count?

Met Sasha DiGiulian years ago at Rumney (when she was just getting into trad). Partner said "Hey let's climb sometime" and she agreed (this conversation happened when she was on route). We left without any contact info.

I won't spray my full resume or all the hard climbers I've not boned mainly cause nobody gives a crap, but I will share practically the same story. Met the Caldwell family in NM at a rinky dink sport crag, the kid was about 15 . We shared routes with Caldwell Sr. Nice guy.

PS-Damn you trolliban for starting another conversation not about PAS or hexes.

Isn't this just a function of climbing days multiplied by climbing years crossed with frequenting a variety of good climbing areas?  Seems pretty normal to meet "famous" climbers if you are out climbing.

But for sure, one of my fond memories was sharing a campfire with Burchey.

You know, there are many famous climbers who aren't from CA/Yosemite.

Local celebrities - obviously, everyone knows Pete, Sue, etc.  DL is a small world.  Also met Jay while he was putting together the Guidebook...really nice guy.  He ran up Chicago like it was actually a 5.9 and had an anchor set in less than a minute.

Global - Michaela Kiersch used to climb at my gym and was our resident badass.  Super cool person, very down to Earth.  Chris Sharma, Conrad Anker, Lynn Hill, and Cedar Wright all stopped by at some point so I guess I technically “met” them if you count that.

I had a free Friday afternoon to kill at Lovers Leap while waiting for my climbing partners to show. I wound up talking to this really nice gentleman in the parking lot for what felt like close to an hour. He was showing his girlfriend (from Berkeley) the ropes and they had just come from an afternoon climb. We talked about all sorts of stuff and he was just truly enjoying the day. The entire time I kept feeling like... I knew him from somewhere??... but could never place it. Three weeks later I was watching Valley Uprising and there he was on screen. Doug Robinson... the nicest stranger you could ever hope to meet at the crag. :  - )

1. Saw them (at a slideshow, at the crag, etc.)
2. Met them.
3. Hung out/partied with them.
4. Climbed with them.
5. Led a pitch after they backed down from it.
6. Slept with them (or their significant other).

How far down the list did you get?

What if THEY led the pitch after YOU backed down from it? Is that a 4+ or a 5- ?

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
