No way you can put a 10m with a 70m rope to get extra length in a multi rappel without doing alot of BS shit that just makes things more complex and risky.

Just wanted to preserve that.

For the peeps having difficulty wrapping their heads around fixing a rappell. This is a critical piece of knowledge to have in your toolbox as a climber.

So to reiterate. I have done this technique on this route I dont know 40 times?

2nd to last rap is long, you could take and 80m you could have two 40m ropes for all the good it will do you. My method which is EASY, SAFE, AND EFFICIENT. Means carrying a cordelette and a single 70m rope. It's not hard.

Viperscale. I am trying really hard to not break rule number 1 but you just dont get it. Ask me how to do it and you will learn something.

Seeing as you broke the rule 1st with you petulant tirade. You must not get out much.

Holy crap, for a guy who posts on MP a lot you are a real a$$hole. All you do is criticize and belittle others in every thread you comment on. Go ahead and look through your post history - you have some good stuff to contribute but why are you so f-ing rude about ti? If everyone on MP is so beneath you and your enormous intellect why do you even bother coming here?

Some is here asking some questions and asking for clarification and you can't help but belittle. You have some serious insecurity issues?

Kyle can be abrasive, but realistically he's replying to someone that has rubbed others the wrong way with his presumed expertise and spray yet is incorrect in his posts upwards of 95% of the time.

Playing the devil's advocate always pisses people off. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something. Clearly you don't read all my post or else you must always think every post is serious.

You don't play the devil's advocate, you just post garbage.

When you're wrong, which is almost all of the time, you hide behind statements like "just kidding guys!" (see above). I have not once seen a post from you that contributed something positive/useful to the conversation.

Has anyone?

So you plan on tying a 10m rope and 70m rope together to rappel down? It would be easier to just carry extra 70m and tie them together to avoid going over the knot.

I never said you could not do this I said let me quote the linked article so you aren't just going by what I said. I just basically said I would not go out on a climb planning to do it that way.

Just practicing using the bold function.

Update on the Angel's Landing (aka West Rim) trail closure due to washout and retaining wall collapse:
On the NPS site, officially closed indefinitely. From discussions with rangers posted on a Zion NP Facebook page:
"They told me closed for the season."
"A ranger told us they estimate at least a year for repairs to be completed."

The NPS is posting LEOs and actively patrolling; they are issuing citations up to $500.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
