Shorts or Pants for Climbing Trad?

No one wears shorts just look at the Euro's who crush. Seriously though shorts are the way to go, with care you can even wear shorts for knee locks. |

My legs are pretty hairy, so pants all the way. |

Me and (apparently) Lynn Hill have been climbing in shorts for years. |

You can put a harness on over boxer shorts. Brad Gobright's done it. Why stop there? Slip the harness on over your birthday suit! Not something I've done, and i don't condone it (with myself in mind). |

Zip offs best of both worlds |

I personally think you can't go wrong with thin nylon pants that you can just roll up if it gets THAT hot. I like the long pant legs for wind, sun, shrub and rock protection most of the time. |

Yes, I do all the time in the summer. But I also always wear a pull on elastic knee covering as well. This provides a lot more protection for knee scrapes than the fabric of a pant does. Best of both worlds. |

And then there is this third option. . . |
