Or you could ask me, who as an MD has spent more than his share of time in Trauma Bays taking care of all kinds trauma patients and motor vehicle accidents and of course many are head injured. Also, 3 skull fractures and 6 concussions for me personally. Maybe my mom should have but me to bed in the upper bunk wearing a helmet (only counts for one concussion lol).

Helmets are situational. Its a thing that requires judgment. If you don't have the experience to have good judgment, or doubt the safety of a given situation wear one. What, me worry?

A doctor who tells people they only need to wear a helmet sometimes? As someone who's had 3 skull fractures and 6 concussions, seems like you weren't able to predict when you needed a helmet. Get well soon. :)

When's the last time you saw Ondra wearing a helmet?

All head trauma for me before I was 13. Needless to say, this was before they invented helmets for kids on the short bus :).

I hope Mexican medical schools have improved their education since Tut's time as a student.

He's a head injury waiting to happen.

And there you have it. An utter lack of judgment (on your part).

I haven't had any head injuries. Must be my bad judgement. :)

Certainly people who have had many head injuries make the best decisions, its the experience that counts right doc?

Thank you for proving my point.

See if you can figure it out. Hint: Situational.

lol all before I was 13yo....first one was at ~3 mos. Managed to scoot off my mom's bed. Last one was at ~12yo. So plenty of time for the judgment centers to heal. ;)

My first living memory: When I was still not really walking my mom put me on the front seat of the car all bundled up. Pulled out of the super market, door opened and I went flying out into the street. I can still see the asphalt about an inch from my eyes as I lay there.

Not a scratch.

Just wear it, and carry it onboard with you if you have to

Trip report. I did not wear a helmet on Epinephrine  and did not die.

First, you should wear a helmet on any climb.  Second, my wife and I were just out there and when I was leading a pitch on our first day I pulled off a block which then hit her in the head.  Again, you should wear a helmet on any climb ha.  Stay safe and have fun!

Yep, everything is fine.  I guess block was a bit of an exaggeration but it was probably a textbook sized rock.  Super unexpected and scared the shit out of both of us.

I've pulled of quite a few chunks of rock in Red Rock.  Anything off the beaten path is often a chossfest.

It’s never a bad idea to wear a helmet. Like a seat belt, they rarely come into play but when you need it youre fucking glad it was on.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
