What are some recommendations for a good beginners climbing shoe? Will be doing essentially indoor climbing, and toproping on the weekends.

I have two choices but I don't Understand What it best for me ...

:

1. Evolv Defy

2. La Sportiva

Stay away from Solutions and any other super aggressive (downturned) shoes. Look for less aggressive, flat soled shoes. Definitely recommend going into an REI or somewhere similar to try on a few pairs. The staff there will be able to help you out! I'd recommend velco simply for ease of use. I like taking my shoes on and off. The pro's for lace ups are people feel you get get a better fit since you can adjust the tightness along the entire shoe.

For a beginner shoe choose whichever one fits the most comfortably. You want them snug but not overly tight.

No need to make this too complicated. Go to a local store and try some on, and choose the one that fits best.

Highly recommend 5.10 anasazi. Still my main climbing shoes years after starting. I have worn other more aggressive shoes but still love them.
