Both points are incorrect. At the first piece, the rope is on top of and in front of his foot. And he’s not even clipped in yet anyway. In the second screenshot he pulls the rope up to clip it without moving his right foot. He didn’t Z clip either. It looked like it because his belayer had a bunch of slack out and the climber side of the rope was drooping. The climber strand is coming out of the left side of the quick draw and the belayer strand is coming out of the right. Then he grabs the left side (climber strand) to clip the second piece. No Z clip. It was the below brief image, from right before he clipped, that was deceiving. |

What’s wrong with the Double Dogleg video? Not sure I get it. Seemed like a boring GoPro vid, but I didn’t see anything outrageous. I don’t know why the guy says “clipped” and “take” after he places every piece, but this is pretty picayune stuff. |

SethG wrote: I think it is just a bit goofy and thus possibly not awesome. He says, clipped and take a bunch of times I think. Subjective scale. I will now always put in a piece before committing though. So, it was helpful. |

The dogleg video becomes clearly worth it when he says “Candace, just look at these features!” New favorite saying |

Okay, I agree these are not awesome, but they're just beginners. Everyone started somewhere. |
