I am recently out of college and looking to work my way into a career as a mountain guide. I noticed that most of the entry level positions seem to be centered around the summer season.
I have a big internship this summer and cannot work then. Are their any openings starting in the fall/late summer?

Most guiding tends to start for the summer season because that's generally the busiest season. That said, there are places with decent seasons outside of summer, notably the desert. Ironically, the folks hiring a climbing guide are often out in the summer regardless, so there's usually work to be done in the desert in the heat of summer, even if it's not typically good climbing conditions. But fall to spring tends to be the best season in the desert. Options might include Joshua Tree, Moab, and Red Rock. There's certainly fall rock guiding work out there, but there's usually not as much so it doesn't tend to go to new guides. Ski guiding doesn't usually start picking up until late November, but that would probably be your next closest thing. All that said, if you start looking for jobs in the spring and your internship provides you with relevant work experience, you might be able to find some place willing to work with you in the fall.

If your career goal is to be a guide, why are you concerned with an internship? Guiding companies do not require their applicants complete internships, especially internships in fields not related to guiding.
