Oh man, I don't think the original poster was all that wrong here. If I'd had a similar situation, I'd likely describe it to friends with similar details (emphasis on eating my food and de-emphasis on the grades perhaps). It sounds to me like the poster doesn't have a close circle here since he's new to the area and took to MP to vent. Surely, he now knows this is not the place and it's probably for the best that it was removed.

That said, I'll indulge the post and agree that he was not at fault for the situation. I've seen climbers act irrationally when nervous or rusty (and I've certainly been there) but she took it overboard when refusing to admit that she was nervous or rusty. The fact that she also ate your lunch makes me think she had some very indulgent climbing partners in the past.

If she was upset, then you failed to deliver the message tactfully and that's on you. Next time, try using each mistake a novice makes as an opportunity to (unobtrusively) teach someone who needs it. I highly doubt she is seeking to cause herself bodily harm, she just needs some mentorship. As for the rest of her shenanigans, I doubt a stranger can teach someone manners so trying would be a waste of time.

I think I must be old fashioned. I can't imagine pointing out a partners flaws on the internet. Unless some public safety issue is involved, maybe.

I might never climb with them again and might whine some to my friends, but I just don't understand the public shaming.

I climbed a multi pitch with a new partner once. When we got to the top he said "Mind if i rap first I just watched a video on youtube and have been itching to try this" 

Been climbing with him ever since.....
