Hey y'all, Work is sending me to Cote d'Ivoire (the Ivory Coast) for 3 weeks (and probably several times as follow-up in the future), and I'm going to miss climbing if I can't do any out there. I don't know if there's any developed in CI; I'll be based in Abidjan, and while I don't have the space to bring my rack, I can fit in a pair of shoes and a harness and helmet. Mountain Project was amazing with putting me in contact with climbing in Namibia, and I've done some amazing climbing out there thanks to y'all, and I'd love to repeat it in CI. Does anyone know of any climbing clubs or people living in Cote d'Ivoire that might know how to go about climbing out there? Or even if there's a climbing gym I can at least enjoy the plastic of? I may have evenings to go, and definitely weekends. Any help/guidance would be much appreciated (as for timing, I arrive in Abidjan this upcoming Saturday and leave to come back stateside June 16th). Thanks, Oren

Hey, Oren, I am also interested to know if there's any climbing in CI. I am getting ready to move there in August! Were you able to find out any information? I read online that there's some sport possibilities in the north, as well as near the coast of San Pedro, but I am not sure how accurate the information is. Let me know! Thanks, Ashleigh

Hey y'all, So far, no dice on finding places to climb there. I'm still looking though, so Ashleigh, let me know if after you move there, you find anything! I'm the laboratory scientist for a multinational HIV study, and CI is one of my countries that I travel to often (heading back in another week or so). When I was in Namibia, I met a guy who was a soldier in Angola, and I think he shared pretty much the same attitude, though without the exile. Oren

Hey guys, it seems I was doing same research as you. I didn't find anything, but I will be in Abidjan in 2 weeks till end of October. Feel free to connect on FB : Jakub Kondelka. Maybe we find/create something together or can at least go bouldering outside perhaps. It'd be great to meet fellow climbers over here in CI. P.S. - I am in Man now. There is plenty of potential - some nice slabs and ton of bouldering too. If developed, this could be a good climbing location.

Hi everyone
Coming to this a bit later, but have just moved to Cote d'Ivoire and am missing climbing already. Are you guys still around? It would be great to meet some other climbing enthusiasts, and perhaps as Jakub suggested, we could look into scouting some areas as weekend adventures!
I'll be based in south but should have a car soon and would be willing to drive around.
I'm on facebook as Bethy Boots and Insta as @Bethyboots.

Hey Beth,
Welcome to Cote d'Ivoire! Unfortunately, I never did find a place to climb out there, and our project there has recently wrapped up, so I don't get to make my way out there anymore. Hopefully Rusty and Jakub have discovered something y'all can explore.
Let me know if you make your way out to Namibia, SA, Ethiopia, or Rwanda; I've made many climbing friends out in those places, and gotten a ton of beautiful climbing in with great people and made some really great friends.
Good luck! Oren
