For sure, but you can't sue GoPro because you decided to do something stupid in order to record it on video.  They would have to show an actual mechanical failure that resulted from mounting a camera onto the helmet, not poor decision making.  Otherwise, just about anyone could sue Captain Morgan or Budweiser...

Also, correlation does not imply causation.

True enough. But the engineer in me has a gut feel that there is likely material  strength compromise.
