Grabbing a draw, on or off?

What do you mean, on or off.  It's obviously off.

The trick is to grab the draw in a way that your belayer can't see, rest, then continue.  Shriek loudly in celebration at the top.  This helps to "sell" the redpoint.

Alex does it... but I am not sure if that makes it safe or not.
