What are the names of hotels you recommend that are $70 and less per night? (: Thank you!

Palace Station is often least expensive; just a bed, a shower, and an alarm clock; not particularly to be recommended; not particularly close to the crags.

Sometimes Suncoast has inexpensive rooms; is closer; is nicer.

The hotel fees are not included in internet room quotes and are comparable to the inexpensive room cost. Consider the room fee when comparing to airbnb prices.

I've stayed at the Days Inn Wild West on Tropicana twice and had good luck. Its close to the strip so still a 20 minute drive out there, but, its $35. Some of the characters around the place can be...interesting but no big deal if you park close to your room, pay attention and dont advertise you have a room full of expensive gear. And, its across the street from Inn and Out.. 

Edit: "hotel" or "resort" fees at Wild West are $15 I believe, bring the total up to around $50. Still cheaper than most (Strip hotels and even off-Strip places might charge up to a $35 resort fee).

I stayed at Palace Station a couple months ago and the smell in the room was nasty and unbearable - ammonia, mildew, and cigarette smoke.  Plus, as Dave mentioned,  they get you with the hidden resort fees and some other hidden fee that I cant remember exactly.  But most hotels down there pull that scam now. 

We like the La Quinta in Summerlin. Easy walk to some bars and a hot tub. The weekly rate is one of the best I have found.

I've had great luck with Suncoast..

Circus Circus is usually dirt cheap and not too sleazy

Bonnie Springs Motel is right next to the climbing, saving driving, Family "Safe" comparatively 

Almost - no "Vagas stuff" - corny Wild West show, things in cages, Train ride. . . .

Bar / Restarant - If that matters.

 There are some employee housing deals that you can sub-let some times for longer term seasonal plans

Yeah Red Rock Casino, it aint the cheapest but the value makes it worthy for those willing/able to swing it.  When it's warm enough the pools are fantastic.  Deluxe accommodations with potential for great views depending on the room.  Numerous restaurants of all types, Starbucks, etc.  Actually it's become my Wife and my preferred place to stay in LV as it's about as close as you can get to RR climbing.

Stayed at the El Cortez which is right at the end of Fremont street. It was ~$25-27 a night Sunday-Thursday. Weekends are always more expensive but we just camped the weekends. 

Thank you for the replies everyone! Your input is very helpful! If any locals are around who want to show us around, we plan to climb 04/21 and 04/22 (trad - 5.6 to 5.9/sport 5.8 to 5.11b). Cheers.

The Howard Johnson can be had for about $50/night with no resort fee. Circus Circus can be had weekday for $20ish, but you have to add in their crazy $30 resort fee on top of that. The resort fee listed on Expedia or hotels.com is typically off - so call the hotel before booking to get what the real fee is.

Keep in mind that not only do you have the base fee, you have the BS "resort fee" scam which can easily add $30 - 50 per night, AND you have to pay taxes on the resort fee which is not included in the fee. Further, if that's not enough, numerous hotels in Vegas now charge for parking (which is new as of 2016 - 2017) which ranges from $15 - 40 a night, and it's not always consistent. One night may be $15, the next 40. So basically that "$40 a night" hotel is more like $40 + $30 resort fee + $12 taxes + $25 parking...
