This isn't directly-climbing related but my market research company is looking for individuals who can chat about alternative living situations. There's a healthy incentive in it for you too. Here's some more info: "Our client is a large home retailers and they’re looking to understand a very big question; “What makes a home a ‘home’?”. To help them do this we’re undertaking a research project spanning three continents and running over six months. As part of this we’re looking for ‘Home Pioneer’s – people who have distinct, interesting, or unique points of view on the home. We’d be asking for your participation for ten weeks of video reporting (recording 2-3 minutes of video per week on a particular subject related to the home – we’d give you the subject, and you’d use your smartphone) and attendance at a one day workshop in Europe (with flights, food and accommodation paid for and organised by us). The video reporting would start on April 18th, with the workshop scheduled for one-day between 13th – 21st May. In return for your participation in the full ten weeks plus one day we’re offering a financial incentive. (On top of being part of a select group of people helping shape the future of the home and a free trip to Europe.) Interested? Post (or send me a PM) by Friday 31st March with three things: 1. Confirm your interest in taking part in the research 2. Explain in your own words, what makes a home a ‘home’? 3. Your current or past occupation (especially if it's relevant). If you’re interested in the research project as a whole but unable or unwilling to take part in this video reporting and workshop element, please let us know and we may be in touch about a different opportunity."

Hard to imagine needing a survey to answer the question, “What makes a home a ‘home’?”. If almost every employee, manager, CxO and board member at Home Depot and Lowes can't already answer that question, think it's something that comes from one of their stores, or need a market research company to answer it for them, then they've already failed in very fundamental ways which begs questions about the level of basic humanity at work in such companies. Kind of unavoidably a 'WTF?' sort of deal and misstep.

Simple answer to that... where you go home at night. Whether a mud brick grass roof hut, cardboard box, van, cave, tent, brick 5k square foot house.... all a home. I know people who have lived in every single one of these things.

This has to be the most formal way possible to ask why climbers want to live in vans and tiny homes.

Fortunately, we have many strong candidates (thanks to everyone who PM'd me) but you're absolutely welcome to share this info if you know him personally. Thanks!
