Looking for some good books related to climbing/mountaineering... more like novels than informational guides. Any suggestions?

Check this one out. Saw it in Barns and Noble last time I was at the mall. Looks pretty nice.

Mountaineering: The Freedom of the Hills, 8th Edition

The Freedom of the Hills is pretty much THE informational guide when it comes to climbing and mountaineering. It doesn't have any story format writing in it, but it is an excellent tome.

Eiger Dreams by Krakauer is a great read, as are all of Luke Mehall's books/zines. Though I haven't read it in years, I remember enjoying this journal entry from Chris Sharma.

Eiger Dreams and Into Thin Air by Krakour, Moments of Doubt - David Roberts, The Hard Way - Mark Jenkins. I've read and liked John Long and Greg Child books, but I can't remember any titles.

The White Spider
By Heinrich Harrer

It's about the attempts at the first ascent of the Eiger Nordwand. Amazing stuff.

Really great read, very well written. I'd love more Yosemite memoirs or similar that go into even more detail on the gear/process they employed.

Beyond the Mountain - Steve House

The Trad Climbers Bible - interesting stories from John Long and Peter Croft - it is NOT an instructional book which is why I think a lot of the reviews are negative - I thought it was interesting

No Shortcuts to the Top - Ed Viseturs

Annapura - Maurice Herzog

Camp 4 - Steve Roper

Alive - Survival story of rugby team who's plane crashed in the Andes mountains.

Not sure it's exactly what you're looking for but Honnold's autobiogrpahy was a pretty good read.

No Picnic on Mount Kenya - great read.

Also - Wild Winds about S American mountaineering.

Touching the Void by Joe Simpson is a really engaging, albeit short read. The writing style is so-so, but I found the super inspiring and death-defying story to be well worth the money and the read. Highly recommended!

Valley walls - glen denny. Excellent author, I felt like I was in the valley when I read it

Pick up the Boardman Tasker Omnibus. Four incredible reads in one volume:

The Savage Arena
The Shining Mountain
Sacred Summits
Everest the Cruel Way

Foreword by Bonington.

This one's the real deal. Great writing by off the charts radical alpinists.

The new book, The Bond, by Simon McCartney, is one of the best books about mountaineering I've ever read.

Ya gotta read the one about real risks versus perceived risks, to help you follow many of the discussions on MP if nothing else.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
