When you ignore the pain from a serious injury and only think "how inconvenient". And wondered when it happened how many weeks you'd be out before getting on the rock or in the mountains again.

So I popped my A2 pulley the first month into climbing, from climbing a route outdoor that's too hard and without warming up ... after I popped the pulley , I ignored the pain and kept climbing and never stopped until forced to rest a couple months at a time with my other injuries... now 3.5 years later, I'm still dealing with that finger swelling after climbing........ I was hopeless hooked and ignorant about injuries and recovery ...etc for sure

When you have the day off but all your partners have to work, so you take a coworker who shares the day off and teach him how to lead belay in your front yard by putting an anchor in a tree and falling out of it... And then hopping on you proj after 1 good warmup

When you teach your antiquarian mom to belay you from the garage rafters and head out the next day to climb. When, a year or two later, the aforesaid antiquarian mom relies on a heel hook on the side of the mattress to assist rolling her beat up old body over in bed, yup, she be hooked.

When you blow corners or pile up on your mountain bike while gawking at boulders on new trails. Buildering happens every time you visit a city.

When you're sure your right foot is slightly larger than your left, so you grow your toenails just a little bit longer on the left so both shoes feel equal

When you discover setting tape on the bottom of your shoe, at the regular gym, and haven't been at the climbing gym for most of a month.

I find myself driving through canyons with my head out the window looking for spots that may have good routes to climb. My wife has to constantly tell me to keep my eyes on the road...

When....
When....
Man, this is worse than AA. Whew!
Allright, when....
You see THIS in a parking lot, a shopping center parking lot, and your brain says:
"Hey, bet if ya sit on the pavement, grab that pointy bit on the left...hmmm... could maybe practice some heel hooks!" Hopeless. Hooked. Sheesh. And it's snowing. Again. Please kidnap me? OLH
