Your statements are based on two underlying premises:

  • MP forums are a male-oriented domain; and
  • Testosterone is a valid justification for being an asshole (especially toward women).

Fortunately, neither of these premises is valid nor shared by MP management.

I got a question for mods but anyone's welcome to answer...

I use my real name, there's a picture of my face above it. Other MPers have stopped me in the real world. So now that I've convinced you I'm not anonymous, what's the guideline on calling people out on their BS? I've read some things on this thread and others that I gotta call BS. Will those kinds of posts be deleted or does he started it first not hold any weight?

I can't help thinking that you're trolling.

But to address the question:

Being "socially acceptable" isn't the issue, and no one (I think) is asking or "requiring" you or any other man to act more like women.

What people are asking you and others to do is to use common decency, respect, and some level of sensitivity in your communications on the forum -- toward everyone, including women.

Using common decency, respect, and some level of sensitivity isn't contradictory to "being a man"...

...nor is it being "politically correct". Anyone who says they're bothered by or dislike or are annoyed about the "need to be PC" basically has a negative personality trait they're either trying to hide or are embarrassed by or ashamed of.

Buffy Johnson, never met you a day in my life. Yes my best friend Wayne Crill and I liked to wear the Colorado Sock Co. but you look fatter by far than anyone who would have been any where near my crew.Teaching geebers at the CMC is what you do, how could that ever be linked to me, but nice try.

Same highaltitudeflatul.... fuck it dumb name, let's just stick with John Langston, ya fuck. I've been sober over 7 years so your beer drinking with the Hankster story is shit. All easy info to find out. I use my real name etc. Your story is shit

Tim Yutz and you 2 fatties, save it for the bathhouses..

Edit- too be clear, for the life of me I cannot get the false name Mountain Project account where you just cruise around taking shitty shots at another climber you don't even know! No way in the world I'd just roam around and be shitty, unprovoked, to anyone.

So you use your real name and do all that? Wow! Another guy on MP calling me fat. I would try and come back with something witty but aren't we suppose to be acting decent to one another? The bath houses comment.. that suppose to be calling me gay? Explain cause I'm stupid and fat :(

Edit: What's a geeber? Again stupid and fat

Shut up Bill, you were never even mentioned. You're here because you want "be involved"woooo so exciting. A few anonymous, for the most part, turds have been turds. I can say whatever I want.

You act like this is personal for you? Or did you just mention yourself being Buff Johnson?

And it's been weird, not so fun but I'm way too busy with other things. Have fun with the clown fight. I'll drop back in 2 weeks. Twice a month is all i ever check on the forum.

The anonymity of the internet and road rage has the effect of making people show their true selves. In civilized society, we don't say 1/2 the things we think in our horrible brains. We think people in the Dark/middle ages were cruel, but without society many would be that cruel as well.

I don't think censorship is the answer.

As a female, the biggest thing that bothers me is not the Mountain Project tone, but rather, the positioning of the bolts to protect a dangerous move, and tyrolean access, made for tall people (average men) with over 6 feet of reach (height plus arms above head). To see how this makes a difference, think of how many times your girlfriend (if you have a short one) asks you to get something off the high shelf for her.

Going on the Guppy/Fish n chips Tyrol in Clear Creek Canyon (Golden, CO), I felt like I was going to fall off the 30 foot tree branch trying to jump off the tyrolean which was way above my head.

Sticks and stones and dangerous falls can break my bones, but tones never hurt me.

She didn't call me a douchebag at all Tom, and count me as one of the MANY people on this thread alone that thought for sure she was Trollenor.. not your level of keyboard warrior Tom-O lol. I'm not hip to every single person on the forum like you.

What they meant, Hank, was that the had a beer in the same room as you.
And true enough, those guys showed at the Dark Horse a few times when we were all there, so...

I guess Politifact would rate it 'Half True.'

My point is Mr. Hank you're using quite the shitty tone in replies to people above......

in a thread about managing one's decorum.

Tom, in this same thread 5-6 nameless dipshits have laid into me pretty good. The first few are fine, but then I got a little cranky. Sorry you missed the reason for my shitty tone. And trust me, that is so far from a shitty tone.

But thanks for trying to keep me in check, your advice means the world to me.

Sorry Tony, mountain project beer night doesn't count. That was a long time ago.

Instead of thinking of it as "politically correct" maybe we should all try to think of it "not being an asshole".

I guess I won't make Hank's Christmas card list this year. Yes, you actually know me pretty well, but usually when you guys have a bad day. Anyway, the chance you had to share a little humor was missed, i guess. Sorry about that.
