Drones over the FlatIrons!
|
Some Bozo with an expensive toy but not much for brains was flying a drone today over the Flatirons.Swooping over climbers and really being a jerk. |
|
Ive been seeing them more and more, best just to try and get use to them now, I think theyre here to stay. |
|
What if the person was taking off and landing from their own house on Baseline Road (private property), then overflying Open Space? I'm not sure it is completely clear in that link. |

Not illegal per FAA if under 0.55lbs within line of site, not commercial, not closer to airport than 5 miles, under 400ft AGL, and operated in safe manner. Of course... operating one so that is annoys others is indeed a "jerk" move. |

I was bouldering up in the Satellites yesterday and didn't see or hear this. The only unnatural sound I could hear was some marching band. ;) |

CDC wrote: Are we climbers going be forced to carry while climbing and blast your little drone from the Sky? bouldercolorado.gov/osmp/ru… codot.gov/programs/aeronaut… According to CDC It'd be safer to discharge a firearm into the air at a moving target than be an annoying jerk. |

I was on the first a few weeks back and had the same experience. They are obnoxious. I would probably throw a rock at it if it go too close. |

Next thing you know, the drones will be carrying spray paint to graffiti-up the 1st flatiron summit. |

Just get yourself a trained eagle. |

It is within 5 miles of the Boulder airport, and the City of Boulder has regulations in place about drones, paragliding, and ballooning within city open space. You are certainly welcome to do those things over Boulder, but you cannot takeoff or land on property that doesn't belong to you if you if the owner doesn't allow it. |

Guess it is safe to say ESPN does not need to advertise their coverage of the Drone Racing League here. |

No worse than inconsiderate people with BT speakers in their backpacks or around boulders. Really nothing to get worked up over. |
