Somebody rummaged through my truck the other day. Oops. Forgot to lock it. Glove compartment emptied, center console emptied, side pockets emptied. My complete rack and rope sitting right there. Nothing stolen. So, if you don't see my gear on craigslist, please don't let me know. I guess I got lucky.

Wow - two mistakes. Forgot to lock it and left your gear in the car. Very lucky. I'm surprised at the number of people that say they had all their gear stolen out of their vehicles. Seems much safer to take it inside the house.

Our neighborhood had a rash of stolen cars recently. The thieves took cars that were unlocked and had keys inside. They went through my car and I was kind of insulted, that not only did they not steal the car, they didn't even steal the spare change. Kids these days. It's bad enough they can't belay properly, but they can't even hotwire a car.

I wonder if they were just looking for some easy cash or spare keys to steal the whole kit and caboodle. Either they had very high ambitions or very low, steal truck or quick cash. Either way, they probably couldn't give a decent belay to save their lives.

Someone once broke into my GF's car and stole a bag of trash and mini trash can but left the cash and GPS. Criminals arnt typically scholars so don't expect much.

Your gear is worthless to those who levitate.

I left my car unlocked and they left the GPS and iPod untouched. Instead they grabbed a fire extinguisher from outside the apartment complex and emptied into the car. A year later and I still get that nasty powder coming out of my vents.
