saguaro sandy wrote:now on the subject of big wall foods: I personally did not like the dry freeze stuff we brought. i pretty much ate peanut butter and granola bars for the duration (2 days). Ryan and his buddy ate the eggs and other stuff like mac and cheese. I could not even think about eating that especially after the hard day on the wall. My goal is also to develop big wall nutrition that is packed with energy and easy to digest. So our goal here is not weight loss obviously. Ryan's buddy, although he meant well, was a big time chain smoker. So i don't know about you all but it was tough for me to deal with that too. The smell was debilitating. I dealt with it. Optimally I would not even bring the stove. I would like to develop a plan to eat for 3 days on the wall ( which is the maximum time I am willing to do) without needing to cook anything. Thus saving space and weight along with time and energy to prepare meals.

Yea, but just tell him he is fat. He will probably feel bad if it is coming from his girlfriend. That might motivate him. As far as wall stuff goes, food is low on the list of things that will influence your success. There are about a million other things you need to worry about before this one. That said, you dont want to eat boring food on a wall. Walls are tons of work, and nothing sucks more than a hard day of work that ends with a shitty, boring meal. I eat Mountain House meals on a wall, and the experience of a hot, somewhat-tasty meal far outweighs the costs of hauling up a small Jet Boil and a tad extra water.
Now, if sugar-free veggie bars are your idea of tasty wall food, sure, go for it I guess. But many would agree that a warm Mountain House meal tastes better. In short, bring what tastes good and will give you energy.
Maybe it's a guy thing. But I don't tell a person if it ain't so. If I say he is fat and he knows he is not my words will lose their validity and he will think I am being manipulative. I just want him to be healthy. As for big walls. I am only made for a 3 day max. The work is too much for me otherwise. I do enjoy it to a degree though. When it comes to cooking in general I am not that great. So maybe it translates to big wall too. I think you get my drift....
