For what it's worth, I was recently in the Denver REI looking for snowboard bindings for my GF and hoping to use my 20%-off-one-item coupon. The associate told me that skis/boards, bindings, boots and a few other exclusions apply to the coupon. I assumed that they excluded "high-ticket items," but he told me it was more of a "lower-margin issue." It made sense to me, but he didn't offer me numbers and I didn't ask. But it seems to make sense to me.
