Does anyone have any information on the LONGEST cliffs in the east? In other words, how many feet or miles of cliff there are? I know, for example, the Trapps cliff at the Gunks is something close to two miles long; Wallface might be a mile wide all told, Poke-O is probably half that; Cannon might be a mile and a half?; the RRG has >200 miles in total but not sure what the longest ones are; etc. Anybody have any info to share - partial, authoritative, or otherwise? On any cliffs in the east for that matter, be they particularly long or not? Thanks!

I don't think Wallface is that wide. It FEELS that wide if you walk the base from end to end. lol

Trapps are probably up there with the lengthiest cliffs in the East I think

There is no way that cannon is 1.5 miles wide. At least the climbed part of it

Without researching any further, my guess is The Trapps. RRG has many, many crags but I do not think there is one that even approaches a mile long on its own.

Endless Wall, hands down. Cannon is .7 miles (~3,700 ft.) wide

West Virginia. No one wants to claim it.

Endless wall is just as much in the east as the Red Garden Wall is in the west. And w/o doing any research, I'd put money down that it is absolutely the longest cliff east of the Mississippi.

The cliffs in the Red River Gorge are pretty long as well.... Basically all the clifflines in the PMRP(southern region) are just one continuous cliff. Plus they wrap in and out of all those little coves so that just adds to the length. Same with Muir Valley. Sure its like 15 different "walls" but it is all the same cliff line and connected together just as much as the endless wall is.

Just wondering--how long is Tennessee Wall? Only ever climbed there once, but there seemed to be a lot of rock.

Well, since we've got some pretty good contenders in the New, the RRG, and Chattanooga, how about in North Carolina?

NC has some big 'ol granite domes but no long cliffs that I know of. I have no doubt that Endless takes it... 4 miles is the figure I have always heard.

Only way to bring NC into the running is if you walk around the domes and count it as a cliff. I wonder how many miles it is around looking glass. That said, the west side of Linville has exposed cliffs for a pretty long stretch. Not nearly as unbroken as the stuff at the New though. If you've ever climbed at the New you know that the answer is easy. Endless Wall.
