So I've been called " Stick Boy" by my partner for 20 plus years . 5ft.11 143 pounds .Never was.......or gonna be a hard ass. Never wanted numbers to outweigh the fun I suppose. I always thought as long as we are grinning' were winning'. You can't take this climbing too damn serious 'eh? Train a bit but don't wrap your whole life around it. Do your best .... Get a little scared...... Run it out on occasion............. Do more than Spurt, I mean Sport........... Have a good day in the mountains with you and your friends. Now my best excuses are old age , injury , etc . I still have my grin and a few cold ones in my pack......... What's your excuse ??

I tried unsuccessfully to get into 5.11s on a regular basis back in Austin. I injured my wrist tendons and it just dawned on me that either I didn't know how to train or that it just wasn't physically in the cards for me to crimp on hard 11s and up. Never was a light weight guy, so that didn't help. But yeah, later I just didn't want it bad enough to get better. It's that simple really. It's inspirational to see the rest of you out there cranking really hard and I can appreciate what it takes to get there.

Nothing like a stick boy with a beer gut. I fit this bill in the past, but coming back now. All of the weight i have lost off of the belly, I add that much beer in my pack now (or a small cooler). I have been climbing harder grades locally, but let's see how this corresponds in a real world application (diamond, black, ice). Keep the beer cold and the grins large!

I thought a stick boy was a sport climber who stick clips the first bolt on hard routes. Informed now.

What's the point of climbing if you are not onsighting 5.13 sport, 5.11+ trad, and v7? You guys should aspire to become better... life is not all fun and games as they say...

Well I'm glad you found a way to feel superior to those who take climbing seriously and just climb sport! It's true, we don't have any fun, or lives outside climbing. And we never have good days at the crag with friends. On the other hand, our 8a scorecards are damn fine. :)

Hehe I climb low and slow but I make it look good .....well at least to me it does :) I don't mind to get trashed on some high sport 10's or tr 11's though 12s hurt my fingers so I don't ever tr them. Im a comfort junkie so to say. Ice would be sweet right now!

my d/W ratio approaches 1/infinity, where d is the diameter of my arms and W is my weight.
