What is up with moderators deleting posts?

Ironic, considering:

Kid Icarus contributions... Routes (0) | Areas(0)| Photos (2) | Comments (0) | Posts (65) | Stars (3) | Ratings (0)

While I'm at it:

Yarp contributions... Routes (0) | Areas (0) | Photos (0) | Comments (6) | Posts (397) | Stars (0) | Ratings (0)

Johny Q contributions... Routes (0) | Areas (0) | Photos (3) | Comments (3) | Posts (184) | Stars (0) | Ratings (0)

What do you all contribute here other than negative, inflammatory posts?

I will speak for all of us douche bags and say that it is clear we need banning.

Or you could just stop by yourselves without having to be put in time out.

They are the worst form of humanity.

I've been thinking about writing a book. Something along the lines of "The intardwebz according to Yarp: Why we Troll"

I'd like to officially invite you to write the forward.

You've been around here since 2003 but 3 out of your 4 posts didn't show up until today. Glad you finally felt like it was time to speak your mind.

I couldn't understand most of it because I'm not fluent in moron, but they still made me have feelings that I'd rather not have. Keep up the great work!

You sell yourself short Yarp, you are clearly fluent in moron.*

I would Mike, but self control is in short supply on the internet nowadays. No time outs either. I'm just surprised mods can't seem to get a handle on their ban hammers.

If I take a bullet in the cause of thinning the amateurish troll wannabes littering the mproject mountain side, I would be proud.

Killis Howard wrote:I thought that was EXACTLY what the story was- "This thread has been locked by the administrators. If you really wish to continue this discussion, please create a new thread." When you click on "post reply" in the other thread, this is what you get. How could I have possibly misinterpreted the above? 1 the thread was locked 2 I really wished to continue the discussion 3 I created a new thread. No disrespect or sass intended in the slightest way, Pete. But, really, what did I miss?

It's stuff like this that influenced me to make this thread. What exactly do you have to do to gain administrative status on this site if you're not required to learn how it works.

aaaaahahahah, feeerkin' deeeeush, lol. Oh that's priceless, he thinks he's major league?

Edit: But on topic, the mods here are doing their thing right. When I've been ban hammered by them, I pretty much knew it was coming, to be honest.

I just had a couple deleted, no reason at all. Nothing disparaging, none of those 'bad' words were uttered, oh well. I think there were 5 total that were deleted on the Aspirin thread. Bastards!

EDIT: This is what I am thinking, any poster who decides to contribute two times in a row, both comments (even though they are different) will get deleted. So I guess if people want their posts to stick, space it out a bit. Not sure when this policy was implemented. Mods, sorry about those two valid and harmless comments earlier on the Aspirin thread. And if this is the case (the double post rule), why not just come out and say it so everyone in the MP community is on the same page?

We are now treating violations of Rule #1 differently. The post will no longer be deleted. The original text will be replaced with "This post violated Rule #1. It has been removed by Mountain Project."

Once this happens, the original poster cannot edit or delete it. We keep records of all these (including original text) and will not tolerate repeat offenders. We're all volunteers running Mountain Project and we don't like to waste our time with this. If you don't know how to not be a jerk, or feel this violates some imagined free speech right, please go somewhere else.

And to the 99.9% of you: thanks for all your continued contributions and support for Mountain Project!

How about some clear language on this? What's the consequence for repeat offense?

Nope, there's no published policy. We only have one rule, and it's vague on purpose. Like I've said, if you can't help being a jerk, we'll let you know. This isn't any kind of threat to the overwhelming majority - only a minuscule portion of MP users seem to have a problem.
