Finally, a thread for bitter men(tors) and the smugly enlightened!

I'm not digging the Ann Landers/rorschach quality of this thread. Call me back when the lady from Tucson gets wind of this thread and shows up...

Not normal

I used to teach climbing to kids and most can blow me away now and it't pretty cool.

I have been climbing for a long time and the hardest rock I have ever done is sport 5.12 with lots of falls. Trad I'm a solid 5.9. Some of these kids (well now older are pushing 12's and 13 and that is pretty cool.

Go talk to her as maybe she thinks you won't want to climb with her as your "grade" is higher.

Ya'll need some stategic tanking in your bag-o-trix.

So you're passing your mentor by, she knows it, you know it, but it is unspoken. What you have to do, to keep their ego healthy, is to let them burn you off from time to time...tank it on purpose. Pick something technical instead of pure crankery, something the mentor has wired is ideal. Let them float while you struggle and flail (don't oversell it!, you're not an actress).

My wife is a saint. However, if she weren't perfect I surely wouldn't share it on a public forum with complete strangers.

I say just talk to her like nothing is up and say you wanna climb. Should do the trick?

Kinda ironic that there's a bunch of dudes bitchin' as if that doesn't count, oh well.....

It makes for a super enjoyable time at the crag. To the OP, you should have just slipped the tubesteak up in her and/or learned better English. Maybe something was lost in translation.

Well I do say: LOL.

I agree with some of the things being said here, and even the ones I don't agree with I think are hilarious, but just to throw one in for women: to hell with you women-hatin trolls. Making generalizations about one gender - or race, or whatever - denigrates both.

Grammar-correction-spelling-error pointing-out win

See, this is like throwing pine needles in the fire when the wood runs out. So when is someone going to find more logs? Any mentors out there?

No kidding, run away, run far far away.

A teacher who doesn't aspire to be surpassed by their students is in the wrong damn business. That's all you have to know about the situation. Shallow and fatuous gender stereotyping explains nothing beyond the psyches of its promulgators.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
