Does anyone know what the conditions are like at Shelf right now? I am planning on going in a couple of weeks.
I am fine with cold-ish camping and climbing, but if there is a lot of snow on the ground I might balk at holding a belay wearing a full alpine getup...
Does anyone have any other bright ideas for a weekend sport climbing trip if the Shelf is covered in snow?
Shelf is bomber right now. This is the time to climb at Shelf. However, if you want to climb at The North End or the Great Black North, there will be snow, but only an idiot would climb at the GBN in November.
That's the only problem w/ climbing this time of year. You never really know what the weather is going to do until just before it happens. So Shelf could be no shirt and getting a tan weather or it could be dumping snow in two weeks.
Just got to keep an eye on the weather for a few likely destinations and then go w/ what looks best when it's time to head out.
