MP community,
Join me for the next 100 days in doing 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups every day.
Starting today this lats until February 28th, 2011. (The last day of the month.)

This may not be the most exciting thing to do or the best for climbing directly, but heck its winter and goals like this help me.

Anyone want to join? Honor system folks.

why not do 100 pullups. It seems that pullups would be more beneficial for climbing.

I'm with you in spirit Jon, and in the letter of working out every day (minus a rest day a week). But I'm not down for push ups every day because some days are for resistance, some for cardio, and resistance in particular, needs recovery days for best results.

I do ski and ice climb. I would say often.

As for the sets you can do what you please. Today, Day 1, I did 10 sets of ten.
Every once in a while gives this thread some love to keep us all in check and motivated.

Every single day? Like 700 pu and 700 su per week? Is that good for your muscles? Does it count if I do them all in one day? Girl style?

I'm in, But I'm gonna throw in some rest days on the push ups. I think if i just did 100 a day for 100 days straight they'd be too destroyed for me to ever use them again by the end :P

your body will adapt if you let it, and in two weeks the hurt will subside.

Yeah...no one took my bait, but I'm pretty sure it's not a good idea to work the same muscle group multiple consecutive days. That's certainly true of heavier lifting. I understand it applies to lighter weight/higher rep exercises like push ups as well.

No worries?

You can work your core every single day. I know a dude in his 60's who does at least a few hundred situps every day, and has for decades. Pushups, however, I might do like 100 every other day, and 20 or 30 in the spaces in between. But I'll make up the difference in situps, sound fair?

I'll do 100 seconds of stretching a day for 100 days.

In the service all we did were push-ups, sit-ups, and run. 100 push-ups and 100 sit-ups a day was pretty nominal after a couple weeks. For our fitness tests we were able to do 120 p/u and s/u in 2 minutes.

100 p/u and s/u a day - That leaves 1438 minutes to rest between sets!

Happy Veteran's Day to my fellow brethren!

Dammit, I was content drink beer, ice climb, and eat cheese all winter.
Im going to alternate 100 push ups one day, 100 sit ups the next.

See you February . . .
