A friend and I are planning a climbing to Central Colorado soon. What guide books do people recommend? This one seems popular:

Climbing Boulder's Flatirons by Jason Haas.

There are many others to choose from though....

If you are just going to be here for a week and do a few routes at any given place, and funding is an issue.... then a 'best of' book might be good. But if you have $30-40 to drop per book for each book, the Haas Flatirons book and the Eldo book by Levin are both great books.

If you are here for a short period of time (i.e. 2 weeks or less) and plan on visiting multiple areas then go beyond the guide book and just use mountainproject.com It has all the info and more for all the routes in your ablity. If you do want the books all the above mentioned are good. I also think the Falcon guide for Colorado is a good all around book.

Agree with the above comments. Either this site or the new edition of Rock Climbing Colorado. I've used the latter with pretty good results

I think the Falcon guide for Eldo is pretty damn good for a Falcon book. I usually don't like them that much, but that one's pretty nice.

+1 on Boulder Canyon Rock Climbs, can't go wrong with color photos!

Also, if you head just a few more minutes south, Clear Creek Canyon Rock Climbs by Sharp End Publishing is pretty good for the area.

Can't really comment on any others, but I do know the Best of Boulder Bouldering by Falcon Guides sucks.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
