Stop the madness....PLEASE
|

If you just toproped a climb, please stop saying you flashed it, redpointed it, ticked it or onsighted it. And for god's sake, if you down grade it after toproping it, kill yourself. |

reminds me of a book a buddy of mine bought called "The Toproper's Guide To Yosemite"....some things just need to be left in childhood. |

Great point David! |

If you don't send or don't lead I don't think you should be able to grade it. However, I think how you tick your climbs is your own biznatch. Who is losing what when I tick a climb as "1 fall"?! |

It seems like a troll-a-day around here. February must be a tough climbing month or something.. :) |

I once had a really drunk friend claiming he onsighted the path to my bathroom. WRONG, he tripped twice, stumbled into the bedroom, had to have the lights turned on and finally, after many tries and a lot of instruction, got down the hall to it without passing out. Pinkpoint? Maybe. Don't oversell yourself, it is a tough hallway out there. |

It has always been accepted to say "flash a route on T.R." Quit trying to change the accepted terms.....it gives me a headache trying to keep up with all the new stuff. :) |

I just call it a yellowpoint. |

sounds like you care about the numbers just as much as the downgraders. |

Here's a an actual question: Suppose I'm doing a multipitch climb where each pitch is of *roughly* equal grade (say, Serenity Sons). We're swinging leads and my friend draws the crux pitch. I then follow it clean. Can I claim to have climbed said route? |

Whether that amounts to "having climbed said route" is debatable, but the consensus among reasonable people is that it does. |
