If you just toproped a climb, please stop saying you flashed it, redpointed it, ticked it or onsighted it. And for god's sake, if you down grade it after toproping it, kill yourself.

reminds me of a book a buddy of mine bought called "The Toproper's Guide To Yosemite"....some things just need to be left in childhood.

Great point David!

I think we all need a reminder of how important it is to never inflate our accomplishments.

I agree with this(except for kill yourself). If you don't send or don't lead I don't think you should be able to grade it. However, I think how you tick your climbs is your own biznatch. Who is losing what when I tick a climb as "1 fall"?!

It seems like a troll-a-day around here. February must be a tough climbing month or something.. :)

I once had a really drunk friend claiming he onsighted the path to my bathroom. WRONG, he tripped twice, stumbled into the bedroom, had to have the lights turned on and finally, after many tries and a lot of instruction, got down the hall to it without passing out. Pinkpoint? Maybe. Don't oversell yourself, it is a tough hallway out there.

It has always been accepted to say "flash a route on T.R." Quit trying to change the accepted terms.....it gives me a headache trying to keep up with all the new stuff. :)

He peed on it if that counts.

sounds like you care about the numbers just as much as the downgraders.

"Grade? 11c or 11d. The original first pitch is not that bad and not that runout where it matters. It probably is close to 10a, but there are just a few moves around the slab to the right and the gear on the left is up high, where it would produce a reasonably safe fall. As well, there is an option to go up right on the corner and place a so-so red alien, though getting to and down from that might be the hardest move on the pitch... still advisable if you like to feel sewn up. The second pitch was not the crux for me.

Though I followed it, it probably isn't much different- lead or follow."

Sorry To%# B. I couldn't resist. That's for throwing your shoe at me the other day.

You're lucky it's that little.

I believe it is called "Complex Toproping".

Here's a an actual question: Suppose I'm doing a multipitch climb where each pitch is of *roughly* equal grade (say, Serenity Sons). We're swinging leads and my friend draws the crux pitch. I then follow it clean. Can I claim to have climbed said route?

You can claim a "Team Redpoint". Whether that amounts to "having climbed said route" is debatable, but the consensus among reasonable people is that it does.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
