D'OH! Where's the liquid paper? I meant to say Erie! There's two of the best people we know that live there. : )

I think I'm going off topic a bit...

But I'll be there tomorrow, hopefully with some new comers.

Once again I'm there if I get back from Da Lump in time to make it.

I'm hoping to show up as well, we'll see how it goes. Looks really fun!

Logistical question:

Sounds like we might have a fair amount of folks. We are going to have TR's on 2 routes, both of which the business really happens on the 2nd pitch. With long enough ropes (70) I bet we could TR both from the ground. We were close to pulling it off on Umph Slot with a 60 last time, right? I don't know about Supersqueeze, but it is a similar height.

The other alternative is to hang out a pitch off the ground and move between the two routes. It is easy ground between the two OW pitches. I was thinking we could set up a fixed line between the two so people could traverse back and forth.

Looking at the pictures from one of the previous Umph Slot assaults, it looks like having someone hang out at the top to belay worked well. I'd be happy to do this as long as someone can rotate in to let me take a lap.

What do people think will work best?

hmmm. i think i will need to back out for tonight. cant get there in time, and sounds like there will be quite a few umph-contestants.

however. i will try to organize something for next Tuesday for the Crack a Beer in CCC. i noted some interest in earlier posts...

Sounds like a good plan, Rich. I'll arrive by around 5:15 and bring a 70. Maybe others will as well and I'm sure folks will also be good rotating belay duties.

Also, with only 12 wrenching feet of business and a possible queue to get on it, it might be good for pairs or trios to hit some of the fun trad lines around...probably more fun than watching people umph all afternoon.

Cameras! Bring cameras!

I'll be there as a belay slave (with a camera), so if anyone wants to pair up for another route while waiting for the umph, I can give you a lead belay and follow (if it's an easier climb)

Tony B · · Around Boulder, CO · Joined Jan 2001 · Points: 24,690

I'm coming, I'm bringing my 70M, I'm not afraid to lead Super Squeeze, etc... I've also been egging on Kat to lead it, so I wouldn't be surprized if she does. She's already up in the canyon today, and will be coming a little later than 5PM, so we dunno until she gets there if she'll do it.

So if there are other contenders for that lead, Then maybe we can even pair a few off and lead/follow through it & not worry about a TR at all. I guess it comes down to who wants to lead and follow to solve that problem. Any other potential leaders (other than Jim and Rich, who won't fit) for Super Squeeze?

PS- nobody is even discussing where the afterparty is...
So where is it?

Trying to get poison ivy

Thanks to Josh for the belay on my half hearted attempt... I'll be back!

Anyone get it??

Nick Orticelle · · Denver, Co · Joined May 2009 · Points: 50

I accidentally took somebody's something that is red. Shoot me a PM or a call at 7one3-724-one382 if it's yours and we'll fix this mistake up.

It was good meeting a bunch of you for the first time...and walking over you, your ropes, your anchors, your friends etc. to get anywhere up there. And thanks to Rich for letting me borrow his sweaty shoes for a bit.

In case a tally starts...both climbs kicked my ass.

It's lipstick! Firetruck Red Petzl lipstick, so thick and rich I like to smear it all over my head. That shade's so heavy you need straps to keep it in place! I'm relieved you found it. I'll pick it up from you next thrutch and fashion night.

Rich Farnham · · Nederland, CO · Joined Aug 2002 · Points: 297

Huge turnout! I'm guessing we had 15 folks out there tonight. I saw at least 8 people get on Super Squeeze, and there were more people on Umph Slot.

Apparently bigger people can do Super Squeeze. You just have to move farther out towards the lip of the roof before going through. Thanks to Tony and Josh for getting the rope up on this one. I was psyched to do it after staring at it for so many years!

It was a little challenging moving everyone around a pitch off the ground, but I thought it worked pretty well.

Next week Crack a Beer!!

Thanks again for organizing this and getting the ropes set up guys! As usual, good times on OW night, without too much suffering. One Super Squeezer nearly passed out but soon recovered, there was a case of poison ivy that will hopefully clear quickly, and Shawn almost lost his Firetruck Red lipstick but Nick came to the rescue on that.

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
