Nick Stayner wrote:Is the April '08 issue the one with the Duane Raleigh article on Bachar? If so, that was one of the best articles I've read in a mainstream climbing mag in a while. Also, Micah Dash wrote a decent article. All in all, one of the better issues I've picked up in a while. Maybe this one will stay in the bathroom mag rack instead of succumbing to "other" uses. I don't have the issue in front of me, but yeah, the issue I was referring to was the one with Bachar on the cover. I also read the article by Micah, but am unsure if that was the issue it was in. Agreed though that the articles were good.

Nick Stayner wrote:Haha, as it turns out, I spoke of the "article" by Micah Dash. I came home from the library and saw that it was little more than a paragraph intro to a (superb) photo essay. So now we all know what you were doing in the bathroom.

Must of missed this issue... The last R+I I bought had Bachar on the cover. Since Bachar is one of my heroes (and I suspect hooked me up with properly fitting shoes at Acopa) I can forgive R+I for a couple of bad issues.

Jason, That is a great photo of your son on Mr Breeze. My son (5 years old)climbed that last fall but on TR. I'll have to show him the lead photo and apply some mild peer pressure before our next visit to the canyon.

If you go to the route description for Mr. Breeze, you'll see that he wasn't alone while climbing - I soloed up next to him to make sure that he didn't back clip or take a skidding whipper if something went awry, then I snuck up above and snapped that shot of him coming up. He recently informed me that he's "got his eye" (his words) on a 5.6 at the Enchanted Tower called "The Shoe." We'll see about that...of course, he also wants to send Ruby's Cafe at Indian Creek. All in good time, all in good time. Good luck to your little man! As long as he's smilin' it's all good! Let us know if he gets the send. J

Jason, I'll let you know if he pulls it. I like the "got his eye on" story. My wife was explaining to my son a t-shirt that I was wearing which had a checked box next to the names of Colorado 14ers we had climbed. He asked if I could please add Mr Breeze to the list on the shirt and check it off for him. I thought it was classic. later...
