I wouldn't go that far

I guess that there needs to be balance between sex and climbing, but for me, if I'm gettin mine regularly, climbing is better. If I had choose between the two forever I'd choose climbing. (Maybe that is why I am divorced!)

...cause there's always new routes to do. A three star FA is as good as one star sex, and one star sex will not help you to climb harder. (no pun intended)

Because it takes me away from the rat race for awhile.

Because everything else melts away and I'm left only with the beauty of nature, the challenge before me, and great companionship.

Because there's no other feeling in the world like taking the sharp end.

Because it is the only time in my day, week, month, year when I feel totally focused, contented, at peace and left alone... while being completely aware, without realizing it.

because I enjoy it more than anyother outdoor pursuit

Within the bounds of social or motivational psychology, one might say:
"Because it satisfies my needs and fits my personal motivations."

Same answer for everyone really. The only difference between folks is what need or motivation someone is feeding. For me it is priamarily physical activity & curiosity (exploring new palces, doing new routes) and to some degree, "collecting" (ticking routes in the guidebooks).

Because it's better than a dirt nap.

Climbing is great because just when you think you know what you're doing, you get shut down on a climb 4 grades below your limit. There is so much to learn and there is always a climb out there just beyond your limit.

And of course the fear. There is nothing quite like fighting to maintain composure while pushing your limits. The fear never really goes away, it just gets pushed out a little further with each new epic.

Because I can combine sex and climbing. Ya see, my wife is my climbing partner. There is nothing like doing a multipitch route and having sex at the top.

Now if I can just get her to do it while we are ice climbing....

Why wait until you are on top? Try 'Clucking.'

What Sara said pretty much sums it up for me....

Guideline #1: Don't be a jerk.
