Description
Calcufo is a small, fun sea cliff. Despite only having a handful of routes, this area is in a beautiful location and a nice way to get outside. You may even feel like you are climbing in Wales or Tasmania being so close to the raging sea!!
This wall currently has 4 established routes, 3 of which are bolted sport routes and one trad climb. The rock here is surprisingly solid and has a variety of jugs, cracks, crimps, and even some overhangs. Being so close to the ocean, some of the routes can be a bit dirty, a brush would do wonders, or even just more traffic! All the routes end at 2 bolt anchors with stainless steel rappel rings.
A rack to climb all the routes would be 7 quickdraws, a single rack of cams 0.3-4, and a 40m rope!
Getting There
This small crag is 15km north of the small town of Niebla. From Valdivia, the best way to access this place is by taking a bus to Calcufo and getting off at Calcufo beach. From here locate the obvious, blue laboratory to the right. The wall is underneath the lab! Find the small trail down to the beach and walk for 10 minutes until you are under the wall!
