Description
La Ballena is an east facing slabby crag with about 15 climbs ranging from 5.7 to hard 5.11. It's in a picturesque remote area and has a small stream running just in front. In the summer there is shade after about 3 in the afternoon.
Getting There
From the campground at Froilan's house hike up the hill he steep hill south and east of the campground as if going to Torres Gemelas. Several hundred meters before nearing the base of Torres Gemelas, cross a small stream that feeds a homestead below. Follow south side of the stream up hill (best to stay out of the canyon) until you reach a house with a willow tree. Look for rock cairns along the way. Continue a bit higher to the crest of the hill. La Ballena is a bit down the other side and to the right.
