Description
This small formation sits in front of the southwest face of the Little Hunk. The formation is to the left (NW) of Abstract Roller Disco and in front of the section of cliff with Trespassers, et al. The formation creates the canyon that is between the old road/approach trail and the cliff that Trespassers is located on.
The formation has two general aspects - a sunny side that is generally warm and sheltered in the winter (this aspect faces the trail/old road), and a shady side that is smaller and broken (this faces toward Trespassers).
The sunny side can be reached from the Echo Tee Parking Area in about 7-10 minutes of flat walking.
The formation name is in keeping with the candy bar theme of this portion of Joshua Tree (Hunk, Mounds, Snickers, etc.).
Getting There
From the east (right) end of the Echo Tee Parking Area, walk along the clearly delineated trail/old road past the right (east) end of Echo Rock (passing Swept Away). Continue following the trail/old road across the next valley for roughly 300 yards. The first small cliff on your right before you reach the large, south face of Little Hunk is Mars.
