Description
There are two fun sport routes established some years ago in the slot east of the main Cookbook walls. This short, west-facing prow of solid white rock lies in a steep gully between Lion’s Den and the Cookbook walls. Both routes have high first bolt, so stick clip is recommended.
Don’t know anything about the names here, so using “greenbriar” informally until first ascensionists correct it.
Getting There
Follow climber access trail toward the Cookbook, which starts near House Rock, a few steps past trail marker #37 on the Cook’s Wall Trail. About 120 yards past the main Lion’s Den crag (The Preface), after traversing through open forest, the trail skirts through the rocks. From here follow the base of the outcrop on your right into a gully that is wide at first but narrows down and steepens considerably. Scramble about 200 feet up the slope, with the escarpment on your right, eventually into an opening. Look carefully for some bolts on an overhanging buttress on the right side of the gully. You will pass several other short, highly-featured walls with route potential.
