Description Suggest change

The Berchtesgadener Alps span through Austria and Germany with Hochkönig (2941m) at the peak. The Hochkönig alpine pass road creates the southern border and the city of Salzburg sets the northern border,; east and west borders are set by the rivers Salzach and Saalach, respectively. Rock types here include grippy Dachstein limestone, brittle Dolomite, and Wetterstein limestone.

Getting There Suggest change

From Salzburg, head south. It can take up to 2 hours to travel from one side of the area to the other, so plan accommodations accordingly.
