Description Suggest change

A small state park nestled between residential land; the terrain is characterized by cliffs in the north and a low, swampy interior ringed with gentle hills. These northern cliffs and their fallen quarried chunks offer countless boulders, highballs, and short TR options, though many are in need of serious cleaning to be viable routes. There are also scattered boulders along the east and west borders, and some notable outcroppings along the east edge that may have potential, but may be too broken by ledges. Some areas in the park are quite close to private residences, and as such noise should be kept to a minimum in these areas, most notably the eastern border. As I develop and explore more, I will update this.

The main demographic in the park is hikers; please be courteous. There is no current rule on climbing in the park but one complaint could change that. As a small aside, there is technically an equestrian trail through the park. In several years I have never seen any evidence of horses in the park, but if you do encounter a rider make sure you know what to do; step off the trail to the downhill side (spooked horses run uphill), remain calm and quiet, and most importantly listen to rider instructions. Remember that crash pads make you appear much larger and more of a threat to a horse than you are.

Getting There Suggest change

From the Ridgefield Road access drive; the bottom of the main crag area is about a 5 minute walk along the red trail from the upper lot. The yellow-blazed doubletrack leads to the top of these cliffs for rappel access and scattered iffy walkdowns (continue straight through first trail junction, then hold right through two Y-junctions to where the cliff below turns northward). Easier top access from Tanner's Drive, but parking options are worse -- walk in and hold left through Y-junction, about 3 minutes.
