ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Description
The New World Buttress is a long forgotten, deservedly obscure wall which may be destined for some more visitation thanks to a new addition with 2024’s Remain in Light (5.10b, 110m - 3 or 4 pitches).
Many have likely looked up from the river trail and wondered if the wall’s striking corner systems were worth exploration or absolute crud. The answer is yes to both questions, but with a new multipitch sport climb joining a few old trad adventures, there’s finally a line that might actually make you want to find out.
Both Remain in Light and Hawkline Monster get shade until mid-morning and are sunny the rest of the day.
