Description
Sector Disco is a 100 meter long by 35 meter tall south east facing limestone cliff. It is the left (west) portion of an expansive 400+ meter long cliff band that is formed near the canyon rim. The Disco Roof is a massive overhang that keeps most routes dry during even the heaviest rainfalls although the belay is at the extremity of this natural umbrella. As of 2023 there are 14 routes with grades that range from 5b to 6b+. The climbing style is generally less than vertical on a gray or orange face. All hardware is stainless steel with glue in bolts and double bolt chain anchors. The climbing season is best in spring winter and fall. Crowds are few and far between but this will likely change quickly due to the uniqueness of well-protected moderate grades. Sun shines strong in the morning and mid day. In spring this portion of the wall is in full shade by 3:00. Generally this area is surprisingly sheltered from the wind.
Getting There
Same approach for all the crags along the Lovka Cliff. Park at the end of the pavement in front of an abandoned house and follow a trail on the left ( East ) side of the property. Continue a hundred meters along a foot path next to a stone wall to an intersection. Turn right and follow Karens along a foot path for 200 meters to the top of the canyon rim. Start to zigzag your way downhill making a right hand turn after the prominent ramp that then leads to the base of the cliff. Continue walking along the base of the wall 300 meters to the west most sector.
