Description
A series of free-standing granite boulders on top of Little Hill in New Gloucester. Varying heights and difficulties with mostly solid landings. The approach and the boulders are on Maine Woodland Owners land which is open to the public (the ice climbing cliff a short distance away is on private land).
Getting There
Get on Swamp Road off of Chandler Rd. from the south. The pavement will end and turn to dirt after a couple miles. If road conditions/gates allow, drive on the dirt road about 1/4 mile and park where a woods road leaves Swamp Road. If the dirt road is gated off or in bad shape, walk from end of pavement to the woods road.
Follow the woods road, generally hugging right, skirting the Swamp, until you see boulders and a rise to your left. Start heading up and left, and you'll see the spaced large boulders on top of the hill before the hillside turns to mossy cliff. The climbable boulders are all within about 50 yards of each other.
