Spanish Mills Bouldering

Spanish Mills is an old, high school party spot that was Austen Andersen was aware of from his glory days. He invited me out to investigate if it was worth it. We had to hack out 6 foot tall sticker bushes the entire length of the roof, then pick up countless broken beer bottles and trash, and remove a massive fire pit ring. Then it was time to scrub off all the choss created from massive fires over the years, and it was on. What was left was an amazing, granite roof perfect for horizontal compression squeezing and tricky footwork to stay on the roof. Adrian Weaver was the first to send it, but because no one could maintain the sustained, cruxy, enduro factory of the problem, they decided to try and stay on the right side of the compression block where a thin crack allows finger tips to sink in. This eliminates a substantial amount of hard moves, yet people like to call it the same line, take the high grade, and then call it soft. They are two distinct lines, just because they share the same sit start and top out doesn't make them the same.
