Description
This is a special location even for an island with a lot of them. For climbers it is a boulderer's dream spot. It's not just the rock, but rather it's the all around experience of being seaside, amongst beautifully shaped rocks, wildlife, and seaside. Capineru is an idyllic spot to spend some time appreciating nature and getting on some great problems. Perfect granite is the key here. The problems range in length from 5 to 20 feet. A crash pad is essential for some of the blocks while a soft sandy landing is possible for others. While I don't consider myself a boulderer, I really enjoyed my visit to this spot. After a bouldering session I'd recommend taking a dip in the nearby rocky cove for some swim time. Nude works fine if you forget your swim attire. Routes range from V-easy to, well, I have no idea, but suffice it to say, V-hard. I don't know the names to any of the rocks or the problems but 27Crags at 27crags.com/crags/capineru-… says it lists nearly 200 routes on 42 boulders.. In any case, explore to your heart's content.
Getting There
Head south out of the village of Pianottulli off the T40 on the D122. After 1 km take a right past a couple of camp grounds and to a parking spot at 5 km. This parking spot has room enough for three vehicles. About 100 feet from the parking spot is a large shut gate with access around it for walking the half km to the bouldering zone and after passing some cool modern homes on the left.
