Description Suggest change

If you like beautiful views of granite domes, moderate approaches, mixed climbs that average 100 feet, & no crowds- this might be the area for you!
Located in the Black Elk Wilderness- New Domentions started seeing development in the 80's by Brent Kertzman and Mike Engle. However, the area continues to evolve with the eyes of a newer generation. Rock quality varies from bullet proof to pretty darn good- depending on which way the route faces. With more traffic routes will clean up nicely- (Remember I mentioned no crowds??!!!)

A 70 meter rope is needed to rappel off many of the routes.

Getting There Suggest change

Park at Iron Mountain Picnic Area located south of Keystone on US-16A. Hike about 10 minutes on Trail 89B to intersection with Trail 16. Stay right and hike about two minutes more on Trail 89B. There is an unmarked trail on the left near a downed fence post with barbed wire and a smaller reddish boulder just beyond the intersection. Follow this trail a short distance then go left at the fork about one minute of walking time from Trail 89B. Follow this faint trail several minutes to rock formations. The Little Dome is the second largest formation here.
