Description

A steep pillar forming almost a subsidiary summit on the east buttress of South Illusion Peak, the Bastion features steep and mostly clean cracks. It's not typical to go on to South Illusion from the Bastion; it's a destination in and of itself.

Getting There

Most easily reached by fording Centre Creek and bushwacking directly uphill through old growth. Coming in from the old logging road further north and through the Guardian-Disillusion notch is also possible but much longer and was only faster for a few years in the 80s when you could drive up the spur road.
