The Varzob region has very easy access from Dushanbe, and a very pleasant climate for rock climbing. The mountains climb steeply from the valley floor, which leaves an abundance of exposed rock near the road. There is currently new development happening in the area, but there is a lot of potential for new routes. The first developed crag is at the 18th km marker, and climbable rock is spread out all the way to the big westward turn to approach the tunnel.
