Description Suggest change

The Money Walls are a pair of tall, vertical walls looming ~650 feet above I-15. Between the two walls, there are around 25 sport routes, most of which are very generously bolted and often quite long. The location is significantly quieter than the walls in the lower gorge and has a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The walls were developed more recently, and the general quality of the rock is a bit variable, so expect to deal with some loose and crusty rock until this place sees more traffic.

Both walls face south/southeast, and are quite exposed to sun and wind. In the middle of winter, the walls are sunny until mid-afternoon. Best to leave this crag for an early start on a very cold and/or windy day or a late start on a warmer one.

Jerry Handren's "Mojave Limestone" guidebook covers this area pretty well, though some route information is missing.

Getting There Suggest change

Steep approach. The parking is on the north side of I-15, around two miles south of the Cedar Pocket exit. I have set the GPS location of this area to the northernmost parking spot, so you can use that as a reference. There is currently a 200 foot stretch of road with no fence, with parking options at either end of this stretch. If you park at the southern pullout, walk up to the northern parking which is at the end of a dirt service road. From here, walk north onto a ridge line that parallels the highway. There is a faint trail that meanders through many switchbacks up this steep ridge line and takes you all the way to the left Money Wall. Consult the MP approach trail map if you find yourself getting off-trail. The approach takes around 30 minutes to the left wall and an additional 5 minutes to the right wall.
