Description Suggest change

Barro Roxo is a relatively secluded climbing area located under large overhangs, therefore fully protected from the rain. The rock (red quartzite) is very compact and of excellent quality. The crag is facing North and can get a light breeze. The climbs are all steep (25-30 degree overhang), well protected sport lines, starting at 5.11.

Getting There Suggest change

From the cemetery on the North side of Lençóis (BA), take Rua Prof. Assis (Westwards). After 100m, stay right at the fork and take the obvious dirt road. Depending on the weather, the road may be in poor conditions and require an adequate vehicle (4x4). Follow the dirt road until the end, where the trailhead to the “Morro do paí Inácio” starts (5.5km). Park there and take the trail (WNW), which follows the old access road to Lençóis. After approx. 2km, where the trail crosses the river, stay left of the river and take a small trail heading left and leading to the obvious overhangs. The trail is marked with small ribbons. The total distance from the trailhead to the crag is approx. 3km - roughly a 1 hour hike.
